Vibration analysis training is ideal for anyone who needs to understand vibration analysis and its importance in condition monitoring. The teaching methods take a practical approach, making concepts easy to visualise and apply, and equipping participants with new skills that can be used immediately in the workplace.AVT Reliability® offers three levels of vibration analysis training, allowing clients to select the course best suited to the current skills and requirements of their staff. Training can be delivered online, at the client’s site, or at one of our dedicated training facilities.
Vibration Analysis Category I BASIC (4-day course)
This ISO 18436 Level 1 course is ideal for those beginning their training in vibration analysis. It introduces the key concepts of vibration analysis, its role in condition monitoring, and the basic techniques required for measuring and interpreting vibration data.
The 4-day training covers the benefits of condition monitoring and how it improves asset reliability. It starts with an overview of techniques such as thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasound, before moving into the fundamentals of vibration analysis, including equipment selection, data interpretation, signal processing, spectrum analysis, spectral averaging, resonance, and setting alarm limits.
Practical teaching methods are used throughout the course, with flash simulations, 3D animations, and software simulators reinforcing the theory. This approach ensures participants gain both knowledge and confidence in applying their new skills to real-world scenarios.
This course is suitable for those new to vibration analysis who need to build a solid foundation. After completing this basic training, participants will be ready to apply their skills in the workplace.
Vibration Analysis Category II INTERMEDIATE (5-day course)
This ISO 18436-2 Level 2 vibration analysis course builds on the fundamentals, with a strong focus on how to set up systems for accurate data collection and how to interpret that data to diagnose faults with precision.
The course covers the principles of vibration, best practices for sensor placement, and adjustments needed to ensure measurement accuracy. Participants will also learn waveform and phase analysis techniques to detect and understand fault conditions, and how changes in vibration signals relate to specific mechanical problems.
Practical training includes diagnosing a wide range of faults such as imbalance, misalignment, looseness, and bearing issues. By the end of the 5-day course, participants will have advanced skills in collecting, measuring, and analysing vibration data, as well as the knowledge to balance and align machinery to resolve identified problems.
The training is delivered over 4 days, with a half-day dedicated to review and examination.
Vibration Analysis Category III ADVANCED (5-day course)
The Category III advanced course is designed for experienced vibration analysts who have completed Level II and have at least three years of practical experience (or five years without certification). It provides a deep dive into advanced vibration theory, phase analysis, machine dynamics, and resonance testing.
Participants will consolidate and expand their understanding of complex concepts and processes, gaining the ability to confidently diagnose a wide range of fault conditions and apply the appropriate corrective methods. The course ensures candidates are equipped to manage advanced reliability programmes and support less experienced operators and analysts.
Delivered over four days of intensive training, the course concludes with a fifth day dedicated to review and examination. It goes beyond the ISO 18436-2 standard, meeting industry best practice, and ensures participants are fully prepared for Category III certification.
