From A-Levels to Engineering: My Apprenticeship Success Story at AVT Reliability®
“Before joining AVT Reliability® as an apprentice, I had just completed my A-levels while working part-time at Hugo Boss. Originally, I planned to head to university, but during my studies, I realised that I learn best through hands-on experience. That realisation led me to explore apprenticeships and I’m so glad it did.
I applied to AVT Reliability® and had my interview on August 3rd, 2023. It was only my second ever interview, so I was understandably nervous. But those nerves quickly disappeared, everyone made me feel genuinely welcome and at ease. After the interview, I was invited back for an experience day to get a closer look at what a typical day at AVT looked like. It was an eye-opening experience. I got to meet members of the Warrington team and see the real impact of the work being done. I left feeling excited and hopeful, and a few days later, I received the call I’d been waiting for. I’d got the job!
I started as an Apprentice Support Engineer on September 25th, 2023. The first week was all about getting settled in and handling the paperwork, but thanks to the supportive team around me, everything felt smooth and stress-free.
Within my first month, I was already getting stuck into real, valuable work. I learned how our Machine Sentry® Vibration Sensors are manufactured and began assembling them myself, from fitting the bases to laser etching the cases. On top of that, I started training on the software side, learning how to set up, test, and calibrate the sensors so they’re ready for deployment.
My apprenticeship at AVT Reliability® has given me far more than just a job, it’s given me direction, purpose, and the chance to build a career in a field I’m passionate about. If you’re looking for an alternative to university and want to gain real experience in an exciting, supportive environment, I couldn’t recommend AVT Reliability® more highly. “
