Viscoelastic Dampers
Viscoelastic dampers are an alternative to fixed pipe support systems that reduce vibrations and pipework fatigue.
In many situations, pipework needs some degree of freedom and fixed pipe support systems are not always ideal. By using viscoelastic dampers, dynamic restraint is applied, still allowing movement in the pipework such as occurs with temperature changes as the machinery and system are running.
AVT Reliability® supplies viscoelastic dampers from GERB of Berlin. These high-quality products create a resisting force in proportion to the speed of the movement, providing dynamic support to pipework where needed.
What are Viscoelastic Dampers?
Viscoelastic dampers have several features which give them the advantage over a fixed pipe support system. These include:

Viscoelastic Damper Applications
Viscoelastic dampers can be used in all kinds of piping systems in a wide range of industries.
Pipework vibration assessments can be carried out to identify areas at risk of pipework fatigue as a result of vibrations. Where an increase in vibrations is detected, viscoelastic dampers can be added to reduce the movement and the risk of pipework failure.
